What is emulsifier?
Emulsifier refers to a substance that makes 2 types of liquids not mixed together (usually water and not mutually mixed organic liquid such as oil, etc.) to be uniformly mixed. To be accurate,it is called surfactant, and generally defined to have a property to be easily collected on interfacesand markedly change interfacial properties. Our company is manufacturing Sorbitan ester (Hinon) and PEG ester (Hipeg) as a substance playing the role of such emulsifier.
Reasons for use of mulsifier
Sorbitan ester and PEG ester are non-ionic surfactants with advantages such as lower threshold micelle concentration, higher emulsification power, lower foaming ability 7 relatively less sensitive properties to hardness and electrolyte concentration, etc. compared with ionic surfactants so that they are widely used in a variety of industries. Also, as a wide range of hydrophilic-lipophilic values is available depending on type of alcohol and fatty acid, extent of esterification, it can be used according to emulsification uses with the usage being increased.
Advantages of emulsifier
PEG ester is a non-ionic surfactant , and becomes a hydrophilic emulsifier with the higher water solubility, the more the EO addition, the less the number of fatty acid, and the less the esterification extent. In the opposite case, there is an advantage of allowing selective approach under a wide range of mixing conditions, since it can be synthesized as a lipophilic emulsifier. Sorbitam ester is a non-ionic surfactant, forming mono.di. tri esters by being changed to Sorbitan, Sorbide, at which time HLB can be manufactured from 1 to 9 depending on type of fatty acid and difference in esterification extent with not only excellent emulsification dispersibility but also display of effects by the one with a low HLB as a defoaming agent. In particular, since it is a liquid at room temperature, emulsification is possible at room temperature and stabilization extent of emulsification is excellent.
